Important electrolysis information and home-care instructions
- Make sure your electrologist is board certified. (CPE)
- Make sure your electrologist is using a brand new disposable needle each time you come in and that the old one is thrown out into the red sharps box at the end of each session.
- Make sure all tweezers and other instruments used are sterilized before and after each use.
- Home care instructions
- Depending on individual skin type, you may display redness, and a small amount of swelling after the treatment. This is normal. If any other irritation occurs, it is a temporary condition, and will disappear shortly with proper care. Please do not aggravate the treated area in any way.
- Follow the instructions assuming you are not allergic to Neosporin.
- Do not touch the treated area. Immediately go to any drug store and buy Neosporin cream, with hazel and cotton balls. Apply the witch hazel on a cotton ball to the treated area, and then apply the Neosporin cream. Repeat this process 3 times a day. Remember- you can never over-use these products. The more frequent the applications, the faster your skin heals.
- If swelling occurs, apply ice wrapped in plastic to the treated area.
- Keep treated area clean. Do not apply make up to the treated area for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid exposure to the sun (for at least 2 days prior to and after your treatment) if you have to be in the sun, wear sun block of at least spf #15
- If you have any concerns regarding your electrolysis treatment, please call your electrologist.
- Special note: do not touch, rub, scratch, or squeeze the treated area.
